Sunbonnetsue.com's past --

Sunbonnetsue.com started simply enough, my daughter wanted the Sunbonnet Sue quilt that my great-grandmother made in 1938 for my Mother. My Mom wouldn't give it up, so I decided to "copy" it for my daughter.

It was my first appliqué quilt. I found the gentle curves of her bonnet and the simple dress easy to work on. I had fun collecting all the fabrics for the quilt. I wanted to make it a "charm" sunbonnet quilt with all different fabrics for the dresses and bonnets.

I had so much fun making the blocks, that I organized a Sunbonnet block swap in 1997. I posted the blocks to a web site and visitors started coming. I got e-mail from all over the world asking for patterns. So the site grew.

For my 40th birthday I got "my own domain"  and Sunbonnetsue.com was born!

Kim Cronin's past --

I started quilting in 1982. I was fresh out of college and looking for a hobby. I was growing tired of latch hook projects and macramé. I found a log cabin quilt pattern and was hooked! I am a self-taught quilter, but my grandmother taught me to sew and embroider.

I've won merit award ribbons for my quilts. I displayed a Sunbonnet Sue quilt at the 2001 Houston International Quilt Festival. I am the past president of the Eastern Long Island Quilter's Guild. I have taught workshops on string piecing, two sided quilts, quilting with computers, and Sunbonnet Sue appliqué.

Prior to quilting, I worked as a computer instructor. Currently I serve as a network technician for Longwood Schools.

I live in Riverhead, New York. I can be reached at:
